The Restless Heart, Augustine, and Us

  1. Dr. Groothuis, while I appreciate much of Agustine’s teaching, I must confess that I find his views on marriage, celibacy and what he calls “lust” disturbing. I’m just listening The City of God in audiobook format (now in chapter 31), and I can’t grasp his fixation with “continency” and “wisdom”, instead of a Cross-centered and redemptive perspective on sexuality. But I will continue reading, and then follow with his Confessions, God willing. Best regards, Mariano PD: Sorry for my English!
